CT Registered Nurses

RN DUTIES FOR SKILLED CARE include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Assure the client's safety.
  2. Provide reality orientation if appropriate.
  3. Establish a therapeutic relationship with the client and the family and/or significant other.
  4. Use mutual decision making with the client and the family.
  5. Collect data for assessment: biological, psychological, cultural, social and spiritual.
  6. Assess data to identify the client's health status.
  7. Establish a nursing diagnosis.
  8. Set mutual goals with the client and/or family.
  9. Implement the plan of care.
  10. Evaluate the client's progress toward goal attainment.

Specifically:

  1. Deliver individual nursing care.
  2. Provide for physical and emotional comfort.
  3. Provide teaching for the client and family.
  4. Assist client with activities of daily living.
  5. Provide for proper body positioning.
  6. Assist client with active and passive exercises.
  7. Administer medications per physician order.
  8. Observe, evaluate, and report significant changes in the client's condition to family, doctor and office.
  9. Document all relevant findings.
  10. Plan, prepare, and serve therapeutic diets to the client.
  11. Maintain clean environment for client; clean-up food and cooking areas.
  12. Maintain and safeguard equipment and supplies of client.
